Dermatovenerology

At Northway Medical Centres, experienced dermatovenerologists provide thorough consultations, rapid diagnostics, and offer the most up-to-date dermatologic procedures. Our medical specialists use modern medical equipment and the newest techniques to treat various skin conditions and make your skin look healthy and glowing again.

What is dermatovenerology?

Dermatovenerology is a field of medicine which deals with diagnostics and treatment of skin conditions and sexually transmitted diseases.

Northway Medical Centres offer dermatologic services delivered by professional dermatologists.  A dermatologist treats skin, hair, and nail conditions and prescribes and performs the necessary tests and diagnoses. We also offer examination and removal of birthmarks and benign skin lesions, as well as treatment and cosmetic skin procedures.

Our dermatovenerologists diagnose and treat all types of sexually transmitted (venereal) diseases.

Our highly-skilled medical specialists in dermatology and venereology consult both women and men. To make an accurate diagnosis, they identify the disease cause and prescribe the most effective treatment, dermatovenerologists employ the newest clinical, laboratory and instrumental techniques. Dermatologists also share skin care tips and recommendations on how to help manage skin conditions and prevent them in the future.

Dermatovenereologic diseases

Specialists in dermatology treat skin conditions such as acne, hives, other types of skin rashes, pigmentation disorders, stretch marks (striae), birthmarks, papilloma, warts, and excessive sweating.  The most common skin disorders include acne, rosacea, contact, and atopic dermatitis, psoriasis (in other words, urticaria), etc.

When diagnosing skin problems, our medical specialists use the newest techniques which include a variety of microscopic and microbiological tests, plating, PCR testing, skin biopsy, allergic patch tests, and an automated digital test (Trichoscan) for hair follicles.

Venereologists specialize in the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. The most common sexually transmitted diseases include chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea. Sexually transmitted infections spread through sexual contact. Their symptoms include pain when urinating, heavy vaginal discharge, genital rashes, white plaque covering the areas around the penis, vagina, or mouth; swollen lymph nodes in the groin, testicular pain, lower abdominal pain, and bleeding after sex.  It is important to know that once you get infected with a sexually transmitted disease, you can spread the disease to other people even if you don’t have any symptoms.

Effective treatment is available for the majority of sexually transmitted diseases (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia. etc.). But treatment of venereal diseases will be effective only if both sexual partners receive it. Viral infections (HIV infection, herpes virus, genital warts, etc.) are not curable, but medical specialists can help control the course of infection.

When should you see a dermatovenerologist?

If you develop any skin conditions, for example, rashes, itchy skin, dry skin, flaking skin, wounds, it is recommended to see a dermatovenerologist. If you experience any problems with hair, such as hair loss, alopecia, or suspect having nail fungus or symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases, you should also book an appointment with a dermatovenerologist immediately.

It is also recommended to see a dermatovenerologist for a routine check-up or surgical removal of birthmarks or any other types of skin lumps. Once you notice any changes to the birthmarks, you should immediately seek help from a dermatologist. The dermatologists at Northway Medical Centres examine birthmarks, horny growths, papilloma and other types of skin lumps using a dermatoscope and diagnose various skin conditions. Based on the diagnosis of skin conditions (lesions, lumps, growths), localization, risk of injury, cosmetic needs and risk factors, a medical specialist may advice their surgical removal. Northway Medical Centres offer laser or surgical removal of skin lesions.

If you experience excessive sweating, you should also see a dermatovenerologist. Excessive sweating is usually prominent in different parts of our body due to an active lifestyle, anxiety, diet changes, ageing, use of medicines or for other reasons. Botox (botulinum toxin) injections is one of the most effective ways to manage this problem in the long term. They can be applied to treat excessive sweating in the armpits, feet, or palms.

Northway offers a wide range of treatments and aesthetic laser-based therapies performed with the use of modern, safe, and certified medical lasers.

New generation lasers are used for the removal of birthmarks, pigmentation spots, keratomas (horny growth), papilloma, viral warts, skin rejuvenation laser treatments, vascular laser therapy (removal of expanded blood vessels from the face, redness) and for the effective treatment of rosacea and acne, and tattoos.

At our clinic, dermatologists also perform a variety of cosmetic procedures, for example, mesotherapy, biorevitalisation, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, skin rejuvenation, laser treatments, chemical peels, hyaluronic acid filling (fillers) and botulinum toxin injection therapies. Our highly-skilled dermatologists will provide you with everything you need to keep your skin healthy and beautiful!
