Trigger finger, "triggering" (stenosing tenosynovitis)

Trigger finger is a painful process palpable by hand. When the finger is bent, it triggers, becomes 'locked' or becomes impossible to straighten, it is often followed by pain. It happens due to thickening of the finger tendon, which cannot easily slide between ligaments, thus causing formation of the process next to the finger base. Treatment includes strapping the finger to a mobilization splint, if this occurs ineffective, then surgical treatment is applied.
